Clean, dry, high-pressure air for laser cutting and engraving machines

Laser cutting and engraving machines demand compressed air of exceptional cleanliness — any trace of oil, moisture, or particulate will contaminate optics, degrade cut quality, and damage costly laser components. AP Compressors supplies and services rotary screw compressors with high-grade filtration and desiccant drying, sized and configured specifically for the demanding air quality requirements of laser machine operators across Nepal.

  • Oil-free quality air (ISO 8573-1 Class 1) protecting laser optics and cutting heads from contamination
  • Desiccant dryers delivering pressure dewpoints as low as -40°C to eliminate moisture in air lines
  • High-efficiency coalescing and activated carbon filters removing oil aerosols and vapour

Key applications

1

CO₂ Laser Cutting

CO₂ laser machines use compressed air as an assist gas to blow molten material from the cut kerf. Moisture or oil in the air stream degrades edge quality and can damage the focusing lens.

2

Fiber Laser Cutting

Fiber laser systems require clean, dry air for assist gas and for cooling internal optics and electronics. Contaminated air causes premature failure of expensive laser components.

3

Laser Engraving

Engraving applications use compressed air to clear smoke and debris from the work surface. Clean air prevents residue buildup on the workpiece and protects the laser head.

4

Optics Purging & Cooling

Compressed air purges laser cavities and cools optics in high-duty-cycle machines. Oil and moisture contamination in this airstream directly shortens component life.

Not necessarily — a well-maintained oil-injected screw compressor with high-quality coalescing and activated carbon filtration can deliver oil-free quality air (ISO 8573-1 Class 1). A true oil-free compressor is one option, but premium filtration on an oil-injected unit is widely used and effective.

Moisture in the assist gas causes surface oxidation on metal cuts, inconsistent kerf width, and can corrode or contaminate internal optics and the cutting head — leading to expensive repairs and downtime.

A single CO₂ or fibre laser machine typically requires 100–400 litres per minute at 8–13 bar depending on cutting speed and material. Multi-machine setups need a properly sized central system with a buffer receiver.

Yes. We design centralised compressed air systems for workshops running multiple laser machines — including shared receivers, distribution headers, and individual machine drop lines with point-of-use filtration.
